Website and graphic designer Stephen Emlund is a Bachelor of Fine Arts candidate in Visual Communication at Truman State University in Kirksville, MO. Stephen has been designing websites since high school and currently works part-time as a freelance designer producing print and web work.
Stephen can effectively use Microsoft Frontpage, Adobe Photoshop, Indesign, Illustrator and Dreamweaver. He combines the various software to reach his specific design goal.
Stephen's philosophy on website design comes from what Hillman Curtis says about design, "A [web] design's form should follow its function, but that doesn't mean function should erase form." A website, for example, should reach its target audience conceptually but also in terms of usability and accessibility. Creating websites that adhere to W3C Standards is one of many goals Stephen works toward.
In his free time, Stephen enjoys spending time with his fiancée, listening to jazz music, playing saxophone and learning guitar. He will graduate in December of 2008 with his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in
Visual Communication.
